CacheQLD – February Event Update

Hold onto your hats people it’s a big one, hence the delay and this will be our only post this month. If you have questions before our next post in March, please send us an email at admin@cacheqld.com.

Trivia Night

The host of the SE Queensland’s podcast “Geocaching with Net88 and Friends” Net88 has jumped on board to host the CacheQLD Trivia night. Joining her will be frequent guest on the show, Captain Terror. This should be a great night for an evening of geocaching-themed trivia with our guest hosts! If you were geocaching back in 2015 you may have attended the first Queensland Mega-Event, held in Stanthorpe were both Net and CT were committee members! We reckon they may have a story or two to share.

The trivia night will be held at the showgrounds; however, it is a separate event to the MEGA. You can log your Will Attend for CacheQLD Trivia Event by clicking the link. Make sure you register your table by clicking here or on the event page! Tables can be booked for 1 person up to a group of 6. If less than 6 you will be asked during the registration process if you’re happy to be placed on a team with others. All registered players will be notified of their teams, and table number prior to the event!

Time to start studying your geo-trivia!

CWA Breakfast

CacheQld is committed to supporting local businesses and charities were possible.  We have been in discussion with the local branch of the QLD Country Women’s Association (CWA) and they are delighted to get on board with some hearty homecooked breakfasts.  On Saturday, Sunday, and Monday morning they will be offering a choice of three pre-paid breakfast options. Breakfast will be served from 6:30am to 8:30am with two takeaway options and one sit down meal. To assist with catering and the organisation of volunteers, it is strongly advised that all patrons pre purchase their breakfast.  All the options are available to view and purchase from the CacheQLD shop.  There will be a small selection of baked goodies for sale as well.

New Merchandise

Black Cat Creations have certainly been busy this month coming up with new merchandise opportunities for the Mega Event featuring our favourite mascot, Cal and the Dayboro Sun.  We have added several items to the shop as you can see below from hats, bags, water bottles to a great looking tee.  These items are all made to order so jump onto the CacheQLD shop if you see something you like.  If you are interested in having something similar created with your own personal logo / image be sure to chat to Kelly of Black Cat Creations over the event weekend or jump on her Facebook or Instagram page.

Volunteers

One of the best things about living in Queensland is the friendly helpful members of the geocaching community.  As we have managed to get out and about to some events, a pressing question we have been asked overwhelmingly is “What can I do to help?’ and ‘Where can I sign up to volunteer?”

If you have not attended a geocaching MEGA event before, there is a lot going on and most of it takes a bit of coordination and helping out is a great way to give back to our great game.   At the moment, we are looking for a small number of helpers for on-site and local area tasks during the event.

We invite you to register your interest by adding your name to the official volunteer registration form by clicking the picture below.

Geocaching Downunder – Podcast

Committee Member, JACS Team, will be a Special Guest on this month’s Geocaching Downunder podcast which is live on Monday 8th February at 7:30pm.  She will be answering questions regarding the Dayboro Mega event giving you another fantastic way you can catch up with the latest details and perhaps have the chance to get your question answered.

You can watch live via Facebook or YouTube so check out their socials to get listening.

What’s On

Here is your first official look at how the event weekend is panning out.  Please note we are still officially in draft mode and there may possible be changes made over the next 6 weeks.  However, this will give you a general idea of the main events.
